In the early years the device is usually in an adult's hands, or shared between a few children for a few minutes. These lessons keep it that way.
Several use the screen to show something wonderful and then put it down. Reception watch Earth pass beneath the International Space Station, live. They watch a morning of their ice hands melting as a two-minute time-lapse.
Others give children a way to record what they cannot yet write. Reception make autumn treasure pages in Seesaw, with a photo and a sentence in their own voice. They film each other's two-footed jumps in slow motion and change the next jump.
And some are play with a purpose: programming a Bee-Bot to land on one more or one less along a number track, or drawing pictures that play as music in Chrome Music Lab's Kandinsky.
Art
After looking at photos of fireworks, children draw their own bursts, trails and sparkles on a black background in Microsoft Paint, and the pictures are printed for the Bonfire Night display.
English
After an autumn hunt in the school grounds, each child photographs one treasure and records a sentence describing it in their Seesaw journal, then the teacher shares selected pages with families.
The teacher reads a Book Creator retelling of The Three Billy Goats Gruff that she made with her own drawings, and plays a recorded trip-trap for each goat that gets heavier every time.
Maths
An adult names a start number and a target such as 'one more than 4', children predict and program the Bee-Bot along a 0 to 10 number track, and its landing shows at once whether they counted right.
Children watch the official Numberblocks episode about Five on the class screen, then make five on their fingers and with cubes on the carpet.
Music
Each child draws lines and shapes in Chrome Music Lab's Kandinsky, presses play to hear their picture as music, then changes the drawing to make it sound like rain or a stomping giant.
PE
In groups of three with an adult, children film each other's jumps from a low step in slow motion, watch their knees and feet on the replay, and try again to land softly on two feet.
PSHE
After reading Anna Llenas' The Colour Monster, children drag six picture scenes into the five coloured feeling jars in a Seesaw activity, talking with an adult about each choice.
Science
During a space topic, Reception watch NASA's live video from the International Space Station, spotting sea, cloud and land that the station is passing over at that moment, and look again after lunch to see how the view has changed.
Children put frozen ice hands in sun and in shade side by side, a tablet films the trays in time-lapse all morning, and after lunch the class watches the whole melt in two minutes on the board.
