Reception filled rubber gloves with water and froze them overnight. In the morning they turn the ice hands out onto two trays on a low table by the window, one in the patch of sunshine and one under a cardboard shade, and the teacher sets a school tablet on a stand in time-lapse mode, pointed at both trays and nothing else. The children check the real trays twice during the morning, and after lunch the teacher plays the time-lapse on the class screen, where the whole morning of melting passes in about two minutes. The class watches it twice, noticing that the fingers go first and the sunny hand shrinks fastest, then goes to look at the puddles left behind.
