Reception are learning to find one more and one less than a number up to 10. A small group sits around a Bee-Bot number-track mat numbered 0 to 10, and the adult sets the Bee-Bot on a start number and gives a challenge, such as 'Bee-Bot is on 4, send it to one more'. The child whose turn it is says where it will land, presses the forward arrow the right number of times and presses Go, and the group watches where it stops. When the Bee-Bot lands in the wrong place, the child clears its memory, counts again with the adult and has another go, and the challenges grow to 'one less' and 'two more' as the group gains confidence.
