Reception have been reading Jill Murphy's Whatever Next! and asking what Earth looks like from space. The teacher opens NASA's live video from the International Space Station on the class screen, first explaining that people are living up there right now and that the camera sometimes shows a blank screen when it loses signal. Children sit on the carpet and call out what they spot: blue sea, white swirls of cloud, sometimes brown land or the dark night side. The class looks again after lunch, and the teacher asks why the picture has changed.
