Year 8 are halfway through their cells and microscopy unit, with an assessment in two weeks. The teacher shares the unit knowledge organiser as a view-only Google Doc: 15 keywords such as nucleus, cell membrane, mitochondria, chloroplast, cell wall and magnification in the left column, with definitions on the right. Students open it on their iPads, cover the definitions column with a card bookmark, write each definition in their books from memory, then uncover it and tick or correct their answer. After three rounds the doc is closed and students write five definitions from memory as an exit ticket, which the teacher collects to spot shared misconceptions.
