Over six weekly 20-minute sessions, the teacher puts a new object on the nature table each week (a pine cone, a feather, a conker, a shell), and children draw it from observation with the pen tool in Seesaw, looking closely at shape and texture. They work as they would in a sketchbook: one drawing, rubbing out with the eraser where a line is wrong rather than using the undo button, and a title with the date. Each drawing goes into the child's own Seesaw journal, and for this unit the teacher does not share the posts with families. At half-term each child looks back through their six drawings with the teacher and chooses the one that shows their closest looking.
