Passive Transform on the PICRAT grid: Passive row, Transform columnCIPRAT Passive Transform

Last week Year 10 triple biologists poured agar plates of Micrococcus luteus using aseptic technique, placed discs of filter paper soaked in three antiseptics and sterile water on each, and taped the lids with two short strips as the risk assessment requires. One labelled class plate was left inverted at room temperature in the prep room under a school tablet on a stand, set to time-lapse and filming through the clear base, while the others were incubated as normal. Today the teacher plays the two days on the board in under a minute, then replays it, pausing every six hours. Students watch a cloudy yellow lawn appear across the agar while clear rings around two of the discs stay clear from the first frame, and they record when growth first becomes visible and when each ring's edge stops changing. The lesson ends with students measuring the zones on their own plates through the unopened lids and answering one question: are the clear zones where bacteria died, or where they never grew?
