Year 9 are studying Sikh teaching on equality through the langar, the free community kitchen found in every gurdwara. The teacher took the department's 400-word account, covering the Sikh accounts of Guru Nanak feeding hungry holy men with the money his father gave him for trade, and Guru Amar Das asking the Emperor Akbar to sit on the floor and eat in the langar before they met, and used Gemini on a school account to produce three versions in Google Docs: a shorter version with simpler sentences, the original, and a longer version with extra detail on sewa and vand chhakna. She kept the Punjabi terms and glossary identical in all three and checked each version against the original so the story did not drift, and a Polish-speaking teaching assistant checked a Polish version for a student who arrived in September. Students read the version they have been given, then the teacher leads a discussion on why eating together, seated on the floor, says something about equality that a sermon could not. No pupil names or details go into the tool.
