Year 9 are starting a printmaking unit on art made in response to war. Before the lesson the teacher used Copilot on her school account to draft a 500-word introduction to Käthe Kollwitz, then checked every date and title against the department's Kollwitz monograph, corrected the wording and cut two claims she could not confirm. In class, students read the printed page with a highlighter, marking the facts that connect her life to her work: the death of her son Peter in Flanders in October 1914, and the seven woodcuts of the Krieg (War) series made from 1921 to 1922. The teacher then projects The Volunteers and The Mothers from the series, and students add to their highlighted page the details they will need when they start their own lino designs next lesson. No pupil information is entered into the tool, and students do not use it themselves.
