The class first sings 'London's Burning' as a four-part round together so everyone hears how the entries overlap. Each student then records the melody four times against the click in Soundtrap, wearing headphones so earlier takes do not bleed into the mic, and moves each take so it enters two bars after the one before. They listen back, retake any entry that is out of time or tune, set the volume of each track so all four parts can be heard, and add a fifth track of their own, such as a drone or a two-note ostinato that fits underneath. Students who prefer not to sing can play the melody on a keyboard instrument instead, and all projects stay inside the school's Soundtrap for Education group. Each student hands in a 30-second mix with a sentence on which entry was hardest to balance and why.
