Creative Replace on the PICRAT grid: Creative row, Replace columnCIPRAT Creative Replace

Year 8 have studied Andy Warhol's Campbell's Soup Cans (1962) and the Marilyn Diptych, and spent last lesson drawing a tin from the art room still life in fine liner. Each student photographs the drawing on a class tablet, uploads it to their Canva for Education class account and sets it into a two-by-two grid. Behind the line work in each panel they place blocks of flat colour, working through four schemes: complementary, analogous, one borrowed from Warhol's Marilyn prints and one of their own. They print the finished grid in colour for their sketchbook and write three sentences on which scheme changes the mood of the tin most. The department taught this lesson in Adobe Express until the school moved its licence to Canva, and the teacher marks the printed grids in sketchbooks as before.
