The teacher sets up one FigJam board with about 25 woodland organisms already placed as sticky notes, including oak, bramble, grass, aphid, caterpillar, rabbit, ladybird, blue tit, wood mouse, fox, sparrowhawk and earthworm. Each student is given five organisms and draws arrows for what eats what among them, pointing each arrow in the direction the energy flows, from the eaten to the eater. Because everyone draws on the same board, the separate contributions join into one woodland web within ten minutes, and the teacher zooms to any arrow pointing the wrong way to fix it with the class. The teacher then asks what happens if the rabbits die out, and students trace the arrows to predict the knock-on effects on foxes, grass and wood mice.
