Each table has a cut fruit to paint, such as half a pomegranate or a sliced orange, and the teacher demonstrates building up from the lightest colours to the darkest shadows. Children paint on a single layer with one paint brush, choosing and adjusting colours in the colour picker as they would mix them on a palette, and painting over mistakes rather than undoing them. They look back at the fruit after every few strokes to check shape and tone. At the end they export the painting and write two sentences about how they showed light falling on the fruit.
