Year 2 are working on place value to 100. The teacher sets a Seesaw activity with a 0 to 100 line marked only in tens, and six number labels to drag into place: 19, 47, 50, 63, 74 and 91. When the labels are placed, each child records a short voice note explaining where 47 went and why, then submits it to their own journal, which is private to the class. As the responses come in, the teacher scrolls through them on her tablet, spots five children who have put 47 and 74 in the same place, and takes them to a table with a metre stick and Dienes tens and ones while the rest move on to a second page that zooms in on 40 to 50. The lesson ends with the teacher playing two contrasting voice notes to the class, with the children's permission, and asking which explanation uses tens and ones.
