The teacher reads The Gruffalo aloud and puts a six-picture story map on the board: the mouse meeting the fox, the owl and the snake, then the Gruffalo, and the walk back through the wood. In groups of four, children pass a tablet round and record the whole retelling as one Seesaw voice recording, pausing between speakers so each child tells the next part in their own words. The teacher plays two groups' recordings to the class while pointing at the story map, and children put up a hand when an event is missing or comes in the wrong order. Each group then listens back to its own recording and records the retelling again with any gap fixed. Recordings stay in the class's private Seesaw journal and are not shared with families or anyone outside the class.
