Year 12 are starting to think about university, and myths about student debt are common. Over two lessons, pairs research Plan 5, which applies to students from England starting undergraduate courses on or after 1 August 2023: graduates repay 9% of their income above a threshold, £25,000 at the time of writing, through payroll, and any balance left after 40 years is written off. They script a five-minute episode that works through two fictional graduates, showing, for example, that someone earning £30,000 repays 9% of £5,000, or £450 a year, and answers three myths the teacher has gathered from past sixth-form questions. Pairs record in GarageBand, retake lines, add a short sting and cut anything that runs over. Episodes are shared with Year 11 on the school's login-only learning platform, with no pupil surnames, and each ends by pointing listeners to the school's careers adviser for questions about their own situation.
