Year 11 Higher students consolidate the nth term of quadratic sequences by writing a one-page guide for next year's Year 10 in Google Docs. Each student chooses a sequence of their own, such as 2, 7, 14, 23, 34, and works it through in the guide: first differences, the constant second difference of 2 giving n squared, then the linear sequence left over, 2n minus 1, so the nth term is n squared plus 2n minus 1. Where they are unsure of a step, they ask Gemini on their school account to explain it and check the explanation against their class notes before they write the step up; the rule is that Gemini can explain the method but does not write any part of the guide. Guides end with three practice questions and answers, which the teacher marks next lesson before the best are shared with Year 10. Students enter no personal data, and the teacher reviews every guide before it goes to the younger class.
