The class reads Beatrice Garland's Kamikaze from the AQA Power and Conflict cluster. The teacher posts a Mentimeter multiple-choice poll with three readings of the poem: it celebrates the pilot's choice of life, it is mainly about the price his family paid in shame, or it is about how his daughter tells and reshapes the story. Each student votes and the class sees the spread on the board, then pairs prepare a 30-second defence of their reading using one quotation, such as 'we too learned / to be silent'. The teacher calls on pairs from each side, then re-runs the poll so the class can see which arguments shifted votes and discusses why.
