Students start from the dimensions of a typical phone (about 150 by 75 by 8 mm) and choose a viewing angle between 60 and 70 degrees. Over two lessons each student models a stand in Tinkercad with three distinct parts, a base, a cradle and a cable channel, grouping solid shapes and using hole shapes to cut the channel and the charging slot. They check that walls are at least 2 mm thick so the part will print, export an STL file and a screenshot, and annotate the screenshot with the key dimensions. The teacher chooses three designs to print, and the class compares the printed stands against the specification in the next lesson. Pupils join through the teacher's Tinkercad class, so no email addresses are needed.
