Year 10 have finished reading J.B. Priestley's An Inspector Calls. Over four lessons, pairs working on CoSpaces Edu class accounts managed by the teacher build the Birlings' dining room in 1912 and place five clues a visitor can pick up, one for each character: the wage records from Birling and Co., Sheila's complaint to Milwards, a note from the Palace bar, the minutes of Mrs Birling's charity committee and the office accounts showing the money Eric took. They write a short speech for each Birling and for Gerald in the voice Priestley gives them, in two versions: a guarded answer if the visitor has not found that character's clue, and a cornered one if they have. Using CoSpaces block coding, pairs set a variable for each clue so that a clicked character gives the right version, and the Inspector's final speech plays once all five clues are found. Pairs test each other's rooms and fix any character who confesses too early, and each student writes a paragraph on how their two versions of Mrs Birling show her refusal to accept responsibility.
