Kindergarten (Year 1, age 5 to 6) · 45 min · Teacher device and projector in the hall

Year 1 are learning to throw underarm towards a target. At the start of the lesson the teacher plays a short coaching clip she has chosen from a school sport channel on YouTube, shown from her account on the hall screen, at half speed. She pauses it at four moments, the step with the opposite foot, the swing back, the release at waist height and the follow-through towards the target, and the children copy each still position as a statue. The class then spends most of the lesson throwing beanbags into hoops at three distances, with the teacher using the four words from the clip as coaching cues.

Why this is Passive Amplify

Children watch the model throw and copy the still positions; they do not control the clip. Compared with the teacher demonstrating live, the clip adds half-speed playback, a pause at each stage of the throw and the same model repeated as often as the class needs.

Watch out

If the teacher films the children's own throws in slow motion on a school tablet and plays them back, the class is watching footage that exists because of the technology, and the lesson becomes Passive Transform.
