The teacher sets up a one-tailed binomial test: a coin lands heads 60 times in 100 tosses, with H0: p = 0.5, H1: p > 0.5 and a 5% significance level, and P(X ≥ 60) is about 0.028. Students vote on Mentimeter for the best conclusion from three: 'there is a 97% chance the coin is biased', 'there is sufficient evidence at the 5% level to suggest the coin is biased towards heads', and 'the coin has been proved to be biased'. Pairs who picked each option then post a short defence on a Padlet, and the teacher reads out the posts behind the two misconceptions before a re-vote. Students finish by writing a conclusion in context for a second test, using the wording the class agreed.
