Over two lessons, each student builds one Google Sites page on Wilfred Owen's 'Dulce et Decorum Est'. They record themselves reading the poem aloud with the laptop's voice recorder, save the file to their school Google Drive and embed it at the top of the page. Below it they set out six key lines, each followed by a collapsible text group that the reader opens to see their annotation on language or structure, such as the simile in 'Bent double, like old beggars under sacks' or the shift into the present tense in 'He plunges at me, guttering, choking, drowning'. A 200-word essay on the gap between the poem's title and its ending closes the page, and the site is published so that it can be viewed within the school domain and nowhere else.
