Over two lessons, each student builds a six-slide report on 'Private Peaceful': a cover image with a reason for choosing it, a character slide with three images showing how Tommo changes, a key-passage slide, a setting slide on the Flanders trenches, a theme slide with a one-line thesis, and a recommendation. On the key-passage slide they use PowerPoint's Record Audio to read their chosen passage aloud, re-recording until the pace and emphasis match how they read it, and add a caption naming the effect they were aiming for. The teacher listens to the recordings before the presentations and picks out readings that show a clear interpretation to discuss. Each student then presents for three minutes, playing their clip as part of the talk, and the files are kept in the class's school storage rather than shared publicly.
