The school invites four or five volunteers from a local history society or former-pupil network to a staffed afternoon, and small groups record interviews on school tablets about events they lived through between 1970 and 2000, such as decimalisation in 1971, the miners' strike of 1984 to 1985 or the fall of the Berlin Wall. Volunteers sign a consent form covering use of their voice on a school-login page, and are named by first name only. Over two lessons each student builds a Padlet timeline of at least eight events, each post pairing a short audio clip from the recordings with a paragraph of context from other sources and a note on how far the memory matches the wider record. The wall is set to school login, and the class ends by discussing which memories were most useful as evidence and why.
